1;000 Feelings for Which There Are No Names

[ePub] 1;000 Feelings for Which There Are No Names by Mario Giordano in Arts-Photography

Description

Hieronymus Bosch was painting frightening; yet vaguely likable monsters long before computer games were ever invented; often including a touch of humour. His works are assertive statements about the mental illness that befalls any man who abandons the teachings of Christ. With a life that spanned from 1450 to 1516; Bosch experienced the drama of the highly charged Renaissance and its wars of religion. Medieval tradition and values were crumbling; paving the way to thrust man into a new universe where faith lost some of its power and much of its magic. Bosch set out to warn doubters of the perils awaiting any and all who lost their faith in God. His favourite allegories were heaven; hell; and lust. He believed that everyone had to choose between one of two options: heaven or hell. Bosch brilliantly exploited the symbolism of a wide range of fruits and plants to lend sexual overtones to his themes; which author Virginia Pitts Rembert meticulously deciphers to provide readers with new insight into this fascinating artist and his works.

Thierry is a reprint of a collection first published in Germany in the 1860s. There are 71 royalty free plates of line drawings of ornamentation. There are floral designs and animal designs. The designs are from ancient Greece and Rome. The designs are reproduced as line drawings in black and white. At around $12; its a cheap source for royalty free art.I liked it because it gave me a chance to study these sort of designs a bit closer. I admire the detail that went into this art.I received a review copy of this ebook from Dover Publications and NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. Thank you for allowing me to review this ebook.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Classical Ornament by C. Thierry is a free NetGalley ...By Kristine FisherClassical Ornament by C. Thierry is a free NetGalley short; 74-page ebook that I read during an early January morning. This book had originally been published in the 1860s and I really thought it would be interesting to study for papercraft or even tattoo design; but....these Grecian/Roman curlicue shapes are more meant for plopping on a piece of wood or plaster.
