[ebooks] 101 Things You Didn't Know About Da Vinci: The Secrets of the World's Most Eccentric and Innovative Genius Revealed! by Shana Priwer at Arts-Photography

Description

Zombie stories are peculiarly American; as the creature was born in the New World and functions as a reminder of the atrocities of colonialism and slavery. The voodoo-based zombie films of the 1930s and rsquo;40s reveal deep-seated racist attitudes and imperialist paranoia; but the contagious; cannibalistic zombie horde invasion narrative established by George A. Romero has even greater singularity. This book provides a cultural and critical analysis of the cinematic zombie tradition; starting with its origins in Haitian folklore and tracking the development of the subgenre into the twenty-first century. Closely examining such influential works as Victor Halperinrsquo;s White Zombie; Jacques Tourneurrsquo;s I Walked with a Zombie; Lucio Fulcirsquo;s Zombi 2; Dan Orsquo;Bannonrsquo;s The Return of the Living Dead; Danny Boylersquo;s 28 Days Later; and; of course; Romerorsquo;s entire ldquo;Deadrdquo; series; it establishes the place of zombies in the Gothic tradition. Instructors considering this book for use in a course may request an examination copy here.

This book definitely helped me along those lines.Shana Priwer and Dr. Cynthia Phillips have done an outstanding job in the writing of this book. I found some of the chapter titles humorous ("The mamas and the papas....."). The book helped me see Leonardo da Vinci in a new "light". and I am looking forward to further reading/research on this genius. The book is small and easy to read; I found myself taking it with me wherever I went.Leonardo da Vinci was truly a Renaissance Man. I liked that the writers took time to go into depth about the other great Renaissance Men (Michelangelo. Raphael. Botticelli) which I found very educational. The reading was an easy flow from beginning to end.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Three StarsBy John WestInteresting but too much about color tones and painting techniques.0 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Doesnt do any justice to the genius - Da VinciBy Lyn6024I found this book tediously repetitive. and light on detail and facts. The style of writing was also inconsistent and often immature.
