[DOC] 15 Easy Folksong Arrangements: High Voice Introduction by Joan Frey Boytim by From Hal Leonard at Arts-Photography

Description

From Morning To Midnight; among the most frequently performed German Expressionist works; charts the life of a cashier who steals money from the bank and flees to Berlin. The un-named protagonists bid to escape his middle-class daily life is ultimately frustrated. It is a popular piece in which Kaiser satirized the cheapness and futility of modern society. His hero; a kind of machine-age Everyman; searches everywhere for some kind of fulfilment - in commercial sex; in salvationist religion - but discovers through a series of nightmarish episodes that the world is deceitful and illusory. In the end; disillusioned and pursued by the police; he takes his own life.A new version by Dennis Kelly; to play at the Nationalrsquo;s Lyttelton Theatre in November 2013; as part of the Nationalrsquo;s 50th Anniversary Season.

Writing about film that pays offBy M. hamptonThere are lot of books; critical (academic) and otherwise (populist; fanbased); on cinema and cinema directors. Many of them are riddled by two opposing sensibilities. There are the books that are so theory addled that they actually leave behind the movies themselves; and what is actually up on the screen; abandoning these ostensibly superficial characteristics for more theoretical and deep insights that seem to leave the movie behind altogether. Then there are the books that lack any intellectual rigor at all.Kremers book on Furie is excellent for at least two reasons. The writer is an accomplished filmmaker both in his own work (RAISE YOUR KIDS ON SELTZER) and in collaboration with indie great Rob Nillson. Kremer who knows the history of cinema and he focuses on the details of films like THE IPCRESS FILE; THE ENTITY or LITTLE FAUSS AND BIG HALSY and SHEILA LEVINE; details that are on screen; having to do with acting choices; visual composition and thematic concerns. The result is that we learn to love Furies films all over again if we have forgotten about them and reaffirm our commitment to his value if we happen to be a fan. I highly recommend this book and it should be a model for how to write about films more generally.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful.
