Good book with photographs and diagrams of Japans notable traditional gardensBy GaryIf you are interested in the history of Japanese gardens along with great photographs of some of the top traditional gardens in Japan then this is the book for you. While the first part of the book provides descriptions of key elements that make up a good Japanese garden; unless you are a trained; professional landscape designer it is not a design guide for those interested in creating their own Japanese garden.8 of 8 people found the following review helpful. Excellent Japanese Garden informationBy R. RussellAs a Volunteer Guide at our Portland Japanese Garden (one of the very best in North America); Ive collected a number of Garden books. This book is my favorite. It is nicely illustrated with pictures; drawings; maps and diagrams. The narrative concerning Garden history; styles and design principles is clear; and concise. Many of the prominent Gardens in Japan are featured. It covers both classical and more modern styles of Gardens. If you get one book on Japanese Gardens; make it this one.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Five StarsBy RenGave this as a gift and it was well received.
