Description

It is frequently commented that Heidegger writes impenetrable texts that are difficult to read and comprehend; but he also; as Barbara Bolt demonstrates in this clear; original guide to his oeuvre; provides an lsquo;artistsrsquo; guide to the worldrsquo;. Heidegger Reframed grounds Heideggerrsquo;s writings in the critical questions confronting contemporary visual artists and students of art. Barbara Bolt takes the most relevant of his texts; including his most famous work; Being and Time; and sets out ways of thinking about art in a post-medium; digital; technocratic and post-human age. She does so through the frame of works by international artists; including Sophie Calle; Anish Kapoor and Anselm Kiefer. A glossary of terms completes this full and clear companion to Heidegger.

Interesting Take on a Self Indulgent WomanBy Diana of the HuntAlthough this book repeatedly describes Millicent Rogers as stylish; beautiful and artistically inclined; I found her life to be very superficial; self involved and terribly barren. If you want to find out how a woman can squander millions of dollars and leave no legacy but three children who barely knew her and a house full of her last indulgences as well as a documentation of her lovers and husbands you will get what you are looking for.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Rich; beautiful; willfull; talented...By L. BrannelIve been fascinated by Millicent Rogers since I first saw her clothes and jewelry in an exhibit at the Costume Institute; Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York many years ago. Ive also visited her museum near Taos. She is one of those women like Georgia OKeefe and Mable Dodge Luhan who came to northern New Mexico and found a new life--always a fascinating story. But there was so much; so many phases; of her life that was new to me. A creative; innovative woman who found her outlet in fashion and design. She had an knack for picking the places and the men who were at the cultural center of any give time. Highly recommended for fashion buffs; people interested in social history; and anyone receptive to a womans quest.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Taos revisitedBy Dianna WoolleyRevisiting Taos recently I came upon the Millicent Rogers Museum. It raised my interest in this famous womans life; legacy; and contribution to Taos history. A good read.
