The Best Monticello NY Book Yet!!!!By will1976Having grown up in Monticello N.Y. and remembering that it was once a nice place to live; I had to purchase this book when it was released. I was so excited I even pre ordered the book!!! When I didnt receive it right away I went out and purchased another copy just to see it and offer it to my parents; life long residents of the village. I was not sorry. Its a beautiful well written book by Tom Rue. Just as you start to forget that Broadway was once a thriving downtown with great places to shop and eat this book brings it all back and gives you hope that one day it can be this way again!!! Its a must have for any village resident who remembers what Monticello once was and still has hope for its future. I can only hope that Tom Rue will do a second book on the village; and I assure you Tom that I will be there to purchase it and promote it!!4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. An Important Addition to the Body of Work About Sullivan County HistoryBy PrestonsMomFirst time author Tom Rue has done an admirable job of putting together the pictorial version of the complex and often confusing history of the first village in the Sullivan County Catskills. Far from a collection of the same old postcards and photographs of Sullivan Countys most well-known community; the book features page after page of heretofore undiscovered photographic treasures. This is a fascinating journey through time and an important addition to the rapidly growing body of work relating to the history of the Sullivan County Catskills.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
