In 1740; Nathan Levyone of the first Jewish residents ofPhiladelphiarequested a plot of land to give his child a Jewish burial. This plot on Spruce Street became the first Jewish communal cemetery and marked the beginning of organized Jewish life in the colonial city. Throughout the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries; floods of Jewish immigrants came to the United States from Europe and settled in Philadelphia and throughout the Delaware Valley. As a result; hundreds of synagogues were organized and flourished. Today; Philadelphias myriad synagogues are like living museums of architectural history. From small wooden structures that evoke Eastern Europe to the sharp angles; modern lines and soaring sanctuary space envisioned by Frank Lloyd Wright; these synagogues reflect changing trends in style; design and function. With this comprehensive collection of images; Preisler helps record the regions unique religious and cultural history and captures in time its architectural treasures.

SchochGreat guide to the almost endless options and settings offered by the Nikon D7200. Some of the illustrations of subtle differences wrought by the various settings are of little value owing to limitations of the printing process.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. I have been a long time member at Nikonians and had read many good posts by Darrel and great reviews of his books. This certainty has helped shorten my learning curve with my D7200. The explanations are straight forward and easy to understand. His recommend setting explanations are concise and allow you sample them and decide for yourself. This is a must have in your library.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. A comprehensive user manual replacementBy hw_engineerIt doesnt take very many pages before you realize that Darrell writes books like these often. He has developed a style of conveying all of the essential information as quickly as possible while still providing some personal inputs. I live in the same general region and enjoy photographing some of the same landscapes. This book is one I will keep in my bag for a few months while I get to know my new camera.I bought this before pulling the trigger to see if it had all of the features I was interested in or if I needed to wait for the D500. I am very excited for my new camera - I have a great headstart thanks to this book.
