The author has done a brilliant job researching the history of Catoosa County of which I am proud to call my home. As a bit of a historian myself; I can appreciate the amount research that obviously went into the creation of this book. Even in the areas that I have studied myself OBrien brought out some points that had been previously unknown by me. There are also many surprising facts I had no idea about such as one of the major roads in the area was built for the Trail of Tears; the "trail" literally went through Catoosa County! This book should be in the curriculum of students in Catoosa.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Great Summary of Local HistoryBy Sharon WinklerI am doing genealogy research on my ancestors; who lived in the Ringgold area in the 1850s. This book gave me insight as to what their lives might have been like. Entirely readable and engaging; if you are interested in the history in this particular region of GA; I would highly recommend it.1 of 3 people found the following review helpful. DisappointingBy A CustomerFor a historical analysis this was significantly lacking. I would disagree with the other comment about the book in question being on curriculum. If the authors attempt was to make the report a narrative; which I believe it is; it is poor research. He didnt site sources or provide decent analysis. Some of his statements loosely made within the book have no argumentative basis. I would not recommend this book to anyone wanting to get a good history of Catoosa County. I would instead suggest William H.H. (Bill) Clarks book; "History in Catoosa County"
