The Sewing Companion Library should be in everyones shelves.By Aspiring Artist and DesignerThe Sewing Companion Library should be in everyones shelves. This set of how to books are invaluable and the EASY GUIDE TO SEWING LININGS is running at $100!!! Which is just stupid. I bought it as a download for $11; just keep looking on line. But; with that said; I think I bought 9 out of the 10 books available and if you get them used you can get tham all for about $100 at most; which is well worth the money. These books are great for the beginner to internediate sewer with lost of helpful information. I got back into sewing after decades of being away from a sewing machine and find myself using these all the time.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Great step by step guide on BASIC jacket construction and techniques.By Joanna BI bought this book because I was making a jacket and wasnt for sure what method to use for interfacing. The book explained in detail; what interfacing method to use for each style of jack and I was able to apply the correct method to the style of jacket I was using. So; this book was a great help. I also picked up some great tips for setting in sleeves; shoulder pads; and how to properly fit the hem of a jacket. You definitely need to know how to sew in general for this book to be beneficial; though. It has lots of great pictures. If youre making a jacket with a lapel; though; this book does not expand on sewing and construction techniques for a jacket with lapels. That wasnt a problem for me but if you are looking for a book specifically on how to do a lapel this book is not for you. But great for everything else!Would definitely recommend this book to a seasoned sewer. I have other books written by Cecelia Podolak and they are great too.5 of 5 people found the following review helpful. Good reference; but beware: COLLARLESS Jackets OnlyBy CustomerWhile the information that is covered in the book is handled well; thoroughly; and in great detail; I was highly disappointed to realize that this book covers only COLLARLESS jackets. This information did not appear in the product description anywhere before I purchased the book; though I (now) see that some other reviewers did mention this. I wish the product information had been more complete; I might have made a different purchase.Still; a useful reference for the beginning sewer attempting a first jacket project. Although the photos and styles of the jackets (collarless; all - did I mention that?) are outdated; as a reference; the information is timeless. Lots of helpful pictures throughout as well.
