[ebooks] Acting Antics: A Theatrical Approach to Teaching Social Understanding to Kids and Teens with Asperger Syndrome by Cindy Schneider at Arts-Photography

Description

Parent-child-dyad art therapy is an interesting and innovative art therapy; in which parent and child share the production of an artwork. Aiming to reinforce or re-establish bonds between children and parents; it provides a space where parents early unresolved conflicts and childrens developmental abilities can be expressed. Lucille Proulx explores many aspects of dyad art therapy including attachment relationship theories; the roles of parents and art therapists in dyad interventions; the importance of the tactile experience and ways in which dyad art therapy could be used to treat other age groups. This original book; with illustrations of parent-child artwork; will be invaluable to mental health professionals in prevention and early childhood fields and also to any parents wishing to enrich their interactions with their children.

KelloggI used some of the exercises in this book for my boys group. consisting of 1/2 kids on the Autism Spectrum and the other half are kid with ADHD and emotional difficulties. All of the boys loved the exercises. HOwever. I have two kids on the spectrum. who have been reluctant to participate in past activities. but after a few minutes of watching the other kids perform the skits. they begged to take part. It was so exciting to see their enthusiasm and willingness to participate. I cant wait to continue using this activities in the book for future sessions.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Great starting place for a drama newbieBy That GuyAnother teacher recommended this book when I was given an Intro to Theater class for life skills students to teach. With no drama background. this seemed like a daunting (impossible?) task. Using this and Teaching Aspergers Students Social Skills Through Acting: All Their World Is a Stage! I ended up using activities straight from the book as warmups. and also I created some of my own after gaining my stride. We ended up putting on a full length play by the end! I would not have had that success without the help of these books.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
