Alfred's Teach Yourself to Play Mandolin: Everything You Need to Know to Start Playing Now! (Teach Yourself Series)

[audiobook] Alfred's Teach Yourself to Play Mandolin: Everything You Need to Know to Start Playing Now! (Teach Yourself Series) by Dan Fox at Arts-Photography

Description

Structural engineering is central to the design of a building. How the building behaves when subjected to various forces – the weight of the materials used to build it; the weight of the occupants or the traffic it carries; the force of the wind etc – is fundamental to its stability. The alliance between architecture and structural engineering is therefore critical to the successful design and completion of the buildings and infrastructure that surrounds us. Yet structure is often cloaked in mathematics which many architects and surveyors find difficult to understand. How Structures Work has been written to explain the behaviour of structures in a clear way without resorting to complex mathematics. This new edition includes a new chapter on construction materials; and significant revisions to; and reordering of the existing chapters. It is aimed at all who require a good qualitative understanding of structures and their behaviour; and as such will be of benefit to students of architecture; architectural history; building surveying and civil engineering. The straightforward; non-mathematical approach ensures it will also be suitable for a wider audience including building administrators; archaeologists and the interested layman.

My only major complaint is many of the songs featured are not "traditional" music for a mandolin and Id you dont know them they can be hard. I would have preferred only folk. Irish. country or classical music in the book. Not 19th and 20th century American tunes.39 of 41 people found the following review helpful. Very pleased!By Kathryn H.I ordered this for my 30 year old son for Christmas. He always wanted one since he was a child. He was extatic when he saw it. That was in 2013. He said it was "backwards" from the guitar but since he could play the guitar. he was able to teach himself to play the mandolin. He unexpectedly passed away March 2016. My husband has it now and said the something Eddie said. "its backwards" but he plays the guitar and is picking it up pretty fast. I highly recommend this product for beginners. Its a beautiful. well made instrument. I would order from this seller again. I know Im late writing a review but to be honest. weve been through a lot in the past 3 years and forgot until my husband asked me a few minutes ago if I ever wrote one. Attached is a photo of my son. Eddie. right after he opened it Christmas 2013.4 of 4 people found the following review helpful. To Start PlayingBy LadyDAt first. it was odd to not learn the strings as I thought it should follow; however. as I followed the book. it made better sense. It is a really good beginners book - not only learning the mandolin but how to read music as well as the exercises. I will be using this book for a while as I learn to play the mandolin. Why did I give it only 4-stars? For me. 5-stars is reserved for absolute perfection and I do not have the expertise in the field.
