Unlike some other reproductions of classic texts (1) We have not used OCR(Optical Character Recognition); as this leads to bad quality books with introduced typos. (2) In books where there are images such as portraits; maps; sketches etc We have endeavoured to keep the quality of these images; so they represent accurately the original artefact. Although occasionally there may be certain imperfections with these old texts; we feel they deserve to be made available for future generations to enjoy.

HIGHLY Recommend as a reference guide for any beginner DSLR shooterBy SoopI was very intimidated by my new DSLR camera and this book had me taking great shots from day one; without using the automatic settings for the first time in my life. The very next day after receiving this book; I was taking awesome pics of my son playing football. I used the owners manual to figure out how to achieve the correct settings suggested in the book and; bam; I was off and running. I love how the book gives suggested settings for almost any given scenario. Taking pics of child playing sports; use these settings. Taking pets; use this. Family portrait; do this. Sunset; go with this. Etc... The trick is figuring out which button and dials do what on your camera. After a couple of weeks cross referencing between the owners manual and this book I finally have a grasp of using my DSLR. To learn why certain settings are suggested for a scene; that info is toward the rear of the book; which seems opposite of normal learning; but works for me. With this book I didnt have to know the "why" to get started; just the "how" to set up camera (found in owners manual) and I was taking quality pics. I do suggest you eventually read the rear portion of the book; but its not necessary to get started which I like.One thing I do have to say is that sometimes the author states the obvious (like call your pet to get its attention or something like that) but I can deal with that. Its still a great reference guide for me because I dont have all the proper settings memorized for all the different lighting.6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. The Digital Photography book youve been waiting for!By Laura TwiningOrdered this book as soon as it was available!The organization and content are easy to follow and expertly written.Sections on specific camera settings for a particular type of shot take out the mystery for someone new to photography as well as expanding knowledge for those not so new."Taking the Picture" section combines the setting and specific steps needed to capture images--just as those shared within the book. Can read cover to cover or look for a specific topic. I happened to have a new puppy in my household and was able to add new concepts for much better puppy pictures right away!This is a tremendous resource and something I will carry along with my tripod; so I have the great information at my fingertips when needed.Be sure to give one to your photography friends and family.
