This book is great for acoustic guitarists who have learned the basics and are ready to take the next step. Beginning with a brief review of reading standard music notation and TAB; this book takes you further into three major areas of study: sounds; grooves and special techniques; theory and improvisation; and alternate tunings. Youll be introduced to a variety of styles including acoustic funk; New Orleans; gypsy swing; Celtic; bluegrass; Cajun and more. Master the upper positions of the guitar fingerboard as you learn major scales; triads and pentatonic scales. Greg Horne makes learning fascinating concepts easy and fun as he introduces modes and several alternate tunings. The CD offers play-along opportunities and demonstrates the examples.

Yet. it was not as detailed as i would have liked it to be. overall the illustrations in it are great. but i felt like the author doesnt teach you how to draw things in a general way. instead the drawings will end up resembling the authors illustrations. if that makes any sense at all. But overall it is a nice book.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. nice bookBy candersI really liked this book because I wanted to get back to drawing as a hobby. This book covered basics which I learned in various art venues over the years. But there was also more in-depth info for me to build on. Anyway. I really got into studying the angels and using Ms. Sassers angels and creating a few of my own artistic ideas.
