A DEVON HOUSE relates the story of one of Devons great houses through the people and events which have coloured its existence over the past 400 years. The book traces the architectural progression of Poltimore from Tudor manor to grand 20th century mansion; records its historic role in Englands tempestuous Civil War and details its use after 1920 as first a school and then a hospital. It will appeal to all those who knew the house and estate in a personal capacity in the past; those who have visited it since the formation of Poltimore House Trust in 2000 and the Friends of Poltimore House in 2003; and those interested in the conservation and regeneration of historic buildings.

Outstanding How-To book on Night PhotographyBy William HigginsThe author does an excellent job of explaining the best methods for taking night photographs in terms that are easily understood and using a camera and lens that you probably already own. Ive read other books about night photography using a digital camera and while some of them were very good; this one is my favorite because it covers several types of night photography using simple instructions and explanations. I think that Beth Ruggiero-Yorks book will soon become the standard for anyone wanting to learn or increase their knowledge of night photography.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Night LightBy John A. Waltersdefinitely a well written guide to night photography. I bought the Kindle version. After studying the brief chapters I was able to produce better night skies with some surprising quality.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
