Perfect General Knowledge About Computers For KidsBy RobWorking in the field of technology and computers I feel I am somewhat proficient in regards to my computer knowledge. With that being said when it comes to explaining and teaching my kids I sometimes find it hard to get what Im trying to say across to them. Both of my kids are in the target age range that this book is intended for. It does a great job breaking down the components and parts of a computer for their age range. Some things they already knew but that is partly because in todays day and age their generation has grown up with these things form birth. Regardless; it identifies the different parts by name and does an excellent job at then explaining how they work. Both my kids learned something new and helped solidify things they already had knowledge of. This is the perfect book for an introduction to computers and delivers what the author set out to do. It is well illustrated and easy to follow so is perfect for anyone looking to teach or learn the basics of computers at the targeted age level. If after reading my review of this product or any of my other reviews and interesting or useful please rate it is as "helpful" or leave a comment. I truly enjoy writing reviews on products that will potentially help someone make an informed decision based on my experience and I also greatly appreciate and I love and hearing feedback so please feel free to let me know if I helped. I make most of my daily purchases here on and base my purchases on reviews of the product from others as well. I know that honest and helpful reviews provide insight to the company and to the purchasers as well.I received this product for free or at a discounted rate in exchange for product testing and review. I am under no obligation to provide a positive review and received no incentives or rewards for doing so. My aim is to highlight features and drawbacks that I would want to know about as a buyer; not hype the product for the manufacturer to increase sales. My remarks are sincere and true. I work very hard trying to write insightful and thoughtful reviews for each item. My hope is that these reviews are helpful to others. While it is true that many items are received at discounted rates or complimentary; my reviews are completely unbiased as well as honest and are my personal experiences and opinion of the product. Once again; it is just my own opinion and experience2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. Not what I expectedBy marieI ordered this book thinking it would maybe teach my son a few things that he didnt know but i was very disappointed in the book. Most children now days know how to run computers before entering first grade so i was expecting a little more. This book is very basic with lots of pictures just showing what a mouse is; what a tower is; what a keyboard is and so on. It does have words and describes what each item is but also throws in some big words that are not needed or understandable by a first grader. My son lost interested after the first couple of pages because he already knows all of the stuff it says in there. I was really hoping it would teach him about doing stuff on the computer like typing or simple things like that but i will have to look for a different book for that. If you have a very young child maybe in preschool or kindergarten that hasnt really used a computer before this would be a great book but for kids who have used a computer this will not teach them anything.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Legit problems with this bookBy Molly WeisserThe first few pages of this book were promising compared to the other titles Ive read from Baby Professor. They were accessible; short sentences; with age appropriate content. Then once we got to the meat of the book we run into the same problems that are Baby Professors trademark. A 1st-grader will not benefit from a book where words like "alphanumeric" and "function key" are tossed around casually without any context. Moreover; this book doesnt really take into account that 1st graders probably understand these computer things much more intuitively than the adults reading this book with/to them. This is clearly demonstrated by the sentence; "The monitor looks like a television." 1st graders who were born in the 2000s and later almost certainly know what a computer monitor is; and wont need that kind of comparison. Thus; the authors of this book come across as out of touch. Moreover... only desktops use monitors. Nowadays most people dont have computer monitors.... hahahaha.... I received this book for free for my honest review. And I honestly wouldnt buy it for my kid.
