I thought I was going to be seeing a lot of photos that were never really published. you know behind the scenes type of shots. Well most of the pictures in here are shots that have been used reused over over again. Im sure youve definitely seen most of these (if your a big fan of VH like I am) in Creem; Hit Parade; Rock Scene and Circus magazines;etc.... There are a couple of great shots; 1 of Ed during photo shoot for VH II Which I think he (Neil) should of shown more of. Which Im sure hes got tons of rolls from that day. And some band exterior shots through out Los Angeles. The size of the book is roughly 9 1/2 X 10 1/2 and with big colored pictures. Another thing that I didnt really care about was all the comments made by all these rock stars telling about how they saw VH or how theyve helped them to make it big. I mean who gives a F**k what Matt Sorum; Jamie St James or Mike Tramp says. I mean come on.........I think Neil couldve done something more structural with this. Its a good thing I only paid $4.00 for this. I dont mean to sound bitter but thats the truth. I just think he couldve done better with showing more rare photos. I mean he was with them for 6 yrs and these are his best shots ??? The same ones Ive seen in other magazines ? Theres gotta be more better ones. Hopefully his next Van Halen book (if he publishesanother one) will have some rare shots that havent been seen before.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Van Halen: A Visual History: 1978-1984By Brian P. HeronIf you are a HUGE VH fan like me; you will love this book! Im a guitarist and a big Eddie VH fan. I was hooked on his style of playing since 1978; when I was a pimply-faced 15 year old in sophomore year of High School. The pictures in this book definitely capture the look; spirit; and excitement of Van Halen and how they completely changed the face of rock roll and how Eddie; singlehandedly; changed guitar playing for the better!I highly recommend this book to anyone in your life who is a VH fan. I also recommend the Van Halen Saga book. GREAT book and great insight into the behind the scenes VH stuff; Eddies struggles with alcohol; rehabs; recovery.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Selfies galoreBy Mr. MustacheThis book is what it says...pictures...of the band on stage. Or bakcstage... or at a press release. Not bad; but no real insite. You would hope for more; maybe a few roade stories or something. Its just picture. And people commenting on how great Van Halen are. If they would have added a little documentry and some personal behind the scenes stuff it would have been better.
