Written by a musoBy DSI suggest having an iPhone. or dictionary nearby for the many terms relevant to philosophy. making it a thick read at times. But. isnt that why youd get the book in the first place? Its written by a jazz guitarist. so the author understands the area from an aesthetics point of view. A practicing artist. as opposed to a straight academic writes a very different book. one that is instantly more relevant and readable.2 of 3 people found the following review helpful. As if that werent enough. the book also does an excellent job of framing various persistent problems in the artworld (ontology. interpretation. expression. meaning). which is remarkable given the disarray of the artworld.One caution: If you dont have a background in philosophy (or the arts). you probably will not be able to understand much of this book.
