OConnerOut of the LEED titles that I reviewed I have found the titles by Michelle Cottrell to be some of the most well-designed; informative; and easily accessible on the market. This book is no exception. The title is perhaps a bit underwhelming considering the titles range of usefulness. Primarily this book serves as an excellent go-to guide on managing the LEED accreditation process... a god send for the project manager.Somewhat bulky at 330 pages; the book covers a range of topics including:Chapter 1: Measuring Green (An intro/overview of the LEED system)Chapter 2: The Integrative Project Delivery ProcessChapter 3: Building a Project TeamChapter 4: Site SelectionChapter 5: The Eco-CharetteChapter 6: Schematic Design and Design Development PhasesChapter 7: Construction Document PhaseChapter 8: Coordination with the Construction TeamChapter 9: Monthly ReportsChapter 10: Construction CompletionIn addition the Appendix includes a number of scorecards; forms; and checklist that can be useful in understanding and organizing the LEED certification process.Cottrell covers the standards and processes for LEED for New Construction; LEED for Core Shell; and LEED for Commercial Interiors. The information is not presented solely in Cottrells framing of LEED process facets; but is bolstered by a number of professionals within various green building subfields.I would recommend this book as a stepping stone for someone who is ready to move beyond the base understanding of LEED required to pass certification toward a more robust understanding of how the process can be implanted on a specific project.If you are looking at a more comprehensive strategy toward sustainable design; this book would make an excellent companion to Sustainable and Resilient Communities: A Comprehensive Action Plan for Towns; Cities; and Regions (Wiley Series in Sustainable Design).
