During the early years of the 20th century; American families witnessed amazing changes in their daily livesmdash;the arrival of plumbing and electricity in their homes; the first automobiles; and thanks to the Eastman Kodak Company; the first affordable; portable; photographic instrument; the box camera. Many families purchased the box camera (for $1) and began to document their own histories. It is upon these histories that North Dakota places its focus.Nowhere were the changes so dramatic as on the Great Plains; and in the state of North Dakota especially. Due to the huge influx of immigrants; mostly from Scandinavia; the statersquo;s population more than doubled from 1900 to 1940; roughly the period covered in North Dakota. But this was also a time ofhardship and struggle; as the Great Depression; theDustbowl; and war took their toll on North Dakotafamilies. But through hard work and perseverence; most of these families survived; and thrived; and nowshare with us the story of that time.

Mr. Hacker knows his stuff.By Staying4LunchI am primarily a stage actor. and occasionally I teach an on-camera intensive for middle-school and high-school students. who are also mostly interested in theatre. I am very keen with getting my students to feel comfortable on-camera. I encourage all of my students to buy this terrific book. Ive bought and read several "acting for the camera" books over the years. and this is. by far. the best one out there. Its strange that there are so few acting books specifically for on-camera work. considering how screen-obsessed we all are. (There are so many more geared to theatre-acting.) I am disappointed that this book is so far down the search queue. and so I am hoping my two cents will help that. I wish I had been able to take his class during my undergrad years!0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Wonderful book!By AubreyWonderful book!!! Its so helpful for any actor that wishes to do screen acting. Its mostly geared towards actors who probably havent auditioned for film and tv before but honestly even if youre a seasoned actor on camera. it has a lot of great advice in it. Definitely worth it to buy!0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. He is absolutely brilliant.
