This book links two fields of interest which are too seldom considered together: the production and critique of art in public space and social behaviour in the public realm. Whilst most writing about public art has focused on the aesthetic; cultural and political intentions and processes that shape its production; this edited collection examines a variety of public artworks from the perspective of their actual everyday use. Contributors are interested in the rich diversity of peoplesrsquo; engagements with public artworks across various spatial and temporal scales; encounters which do not limit themselves to the representational aspects of the art; and which are not necessarily as the artist; curator or sponsor intended. Case studies consider a broad range of public art; including commissioned and unofficial artworks; memorials; street art; street furniture; performance art; sound art and media installations.

I had no idea how talented and bright this man is. I dont mean that as I thought he was dumb but pretty; I mean it as this man is obviously smart and could have turned his talents to anything he chose. Thank goodness he chose showbiz! To add to it he is apparently also a gentleman and a very nice person. Although he divorced twice; he speaks lovingly and sadly about his ex-wives; and still holidays with his first wife and her family from time to time. Class all the way! His journey into the business and determination to do things his way without wrecking his career (something tough to do when starting out) is a good lesson for those with dreams. Read it.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. David....ahhhhhBy LaurieReally enjoyed this book. I developed a mad crush on David Essex watching him perform "oh what a circus" on an Andrew Webber VHS tape; back in the 90s. I watched it a gazillion times! Still do on you tube.In my oh so innocent years in high school I thought David Essex was probably a badass! I mean how mysterious was the sound of "rock on"!!!! I love realizing hes really a pretty nice guy!0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Two StarsBy grazBetter aimed at a UK audience
