Drawing on the principles of Francesco Geminiani and four decades of experience as a baroque and classical violinist; Stanley Ritchie offers a valuable resource for anyone wishing to learn about 17th-18th-and early 19th-century violin technique and style. While much of the work focuses on the technical aspects of playing the pre-chinrest violin; these approaches are also applicable to the viola; and in many ways to the modern violin. Before the Chinrest includes illustrated sections on right- and left-hand technique; aspects of interpretation during the Baroque; Classical; and early-Romantic eras; and a section on developing proper intonation.

That being said. I could knit from this book every day!The patterns are very clear. even for a beginner! There really are so many cute hats in here that I dont feel like I bought the book for one pattern (and that has happened more than once!) I have knit the Flour Sack 4 times already! The Classic Cap pattern knits really well using Malabrigo Worsted yarn. I love the way it turned out! I have knit about 5 patterns in here so far and really cant wait to try them all!Overall. I think this book is a GREAT buy if you are looking to knit any newborn all the way up to small pre-teen hats! You will get years of use from this book. and some stylish kids!0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Five StarsBy toniekbsweet book
