Some peoples passion for sea glass goes beyond collectingmdash;they use it to create something of beauty. Carole Lambert; author of Sea Glass Chronicles; gives us entree into the studios of those who do everything from gathering and amassing sea glass mulch for landscaping to designing stained-sea-glass windows. I love this bookBy Peter DaviesHaving a long-term interest in Buddhism; Taoism and Photography I was delighted to see the latter two addressed at the same time in one book. While words like Taoism; Zen; and Buddhism seem to be a fad in titling books; this is one of the few that actually lives up to its title. It gives a great introduction to Taoism while at the same time applying its philosophy to the art of photography. Basically it shows how to find the extraordinary in the ordinary and how to represent that in a photograph. Those wanting solely technical information on photography would not find what they are looking for in this book. Also those who dont appreciate Eastern philosophies may not enjoy this book. However; for those wanting to open their minds to new possibilities in their lives; or more specifically their photography; this book is very inspiring. Applying these principles will bring out the creativity in the photographer and open his/her mind to see things in a brand new way.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. It is a beautiful book whose greatest value is that over time as ...By Fred A. WertheimerI have read this book multiple times and each time I have gained new insight into my personal vision as a photographer. This is not a book about technique - quite the contrary. It is a book that helps you find that place between technique and application that allows one freedom to be and see. It is a beautiful book whose greatest value is that over time as one evolves as a photographer one can go back and reread the book again and again and gain completely new insights into your photography; your vision; and your ability to see as a photographer.3 of 3 people found the following review helpful. Seeing Beyond Seeing and Living Beyond the PaleBy CustomerThis book teaches you about the wonderful possibilities of life; not just about photography! The Taoist approach to photography espoused by the authors can enrich your photography practice as well as your life. This book is a feast for the eyes and the soul; rich in high-impact photos by Dr. Gross and other renowned photographers and replete with well-written text; a combination which points the way for us to recognize and capture the beauty of ordinary moments. Both the print and Kindle versions are stunning and stirring. This is a book to savor; take your time to taste the words and feel the images. I recommend this for photographers at every level and for teachers and students of the arts. Read this and be inspired to transcend typical boundaries of your photography practice and your life!
