Stranded there by snow; she is swept off on a dream-like journey of self discovery; complete with magical moments; devilish encounters and wittily wild music. You shouldnt miss this for the world . . . Rambunctiously life-affirming and touchingly beautiful. HeraldMore vibrantly alive than any piece of theatre Ive seen in Scotland for years. ScotsmanInspired by the Border ballads; The Strange Undoing of Prudencia Hart toured throughout Scotland in 2011 in a production by the National Theatre of Scotland.

Baron Wolmans incredible chronicle of his days as the first photographer for Rolling Stone Magazine is a MUST. Of course. Barons amazing photos of some of Rocks icons from the 60s are pure eye-candy: Hendrix. Janis Joplin. the Stones. the Dead. Woodstock. even the groupies who followed Rock stars around the country. If you only buy it for the photographs. your money will be well spent. But if you just look at the pictures. youre missing out on an amazing piece of Rock history.Wolmans text to this compendium is truly insightful and inspiring. He introduces you to the behind-the-scenes life of Rocks legends and the concerts they performed (these were the days when photographers had unparalleled access to the musicians they shot). Moreover. Baron shares his insights on the world of Rock. and the brilliant. yet sometimes flawed characters that inhabited that world. He does so with a clear mind. and without the ego that most in his envious position often possess. This is the story of a truly talented photographer. doing his job. and taking advantage of an awesome opportunity to document the history of my generation. LOVED IT!6 of 6 people found the following review helpful. A must-have bookBy In The Loupe*I think this is the best pro review so far of the book [...] You cant even believe how many top photos are in this book. then you realize theres also all the stories behind them. Baron Wolman clearly recalls many adventures. My faves include when Pete Townshend suggested he and Baron go visit Mick Jagger on the set of Performance. just for a laugh; and Janis Joplin performing a personal concert for Baron in his studio; hes at Newport Jazz Festival when theyre landing on the moon and recalls a moving little moment with his friend Jim Marshall. Also he talks about how Rolling Stone magazine even got started. Amazing photos. and compelling stories. Baron shot so many of the hottest acts in the late 60s and early 70s theres something in the book for everyone I reckon.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful. You Wont Want To Miss Out On ThisBy Tom BrownSome people are drawn to Baron Wolmans wizardry with a camera and the sheer artistic beauty of his photographs. Others are intrigued by the chance to see. from Barons up-close and personal perspective. iconic moments in time and the legendary musicians and others that played a role in creating the moments that shaped so many lives. Still others are fascinated by Barons tales of the events surrounding the moments that he captured. And finally. some people are attracted to all of the above. Baron Wolmans The Rolling Stone Years is perfect for all of these people. From the almost serene portraits of Duke Ellington and Johnny Cash to the photographs of AC/DCs Angus Young lying on the stage thrashing away wildly at his guitar and Miles Davis trumpeting power notes at the Monterey Jazz Festival to the photo of Baron playing cowbell behind the amps during Santanas set at Woodstock (kindly taken by Bill Graham). The Rolling Stone Years covers the gamut. But you wont want this book for just the photography. As implied by the books subtitle. every picture in this book tells a story--literally. Baron takes you on a fascinating journey through the years documented in the photography and by the time that you reach the end of the story. you almost feel like you were there in the moment as the camera clicked for each of the photographs in the book. For anyone who has followed Barons work over the years. the chance to learn the back story will add invaluably to the understanding and appreciation of all of the photographs themselves...and of Baron himself.Get this book. You really dont want to miss out on this.
