Butler got a hard rap from most reviewers back in 2002. Those reviews took place maybe as much as 10 to 16 years ago. I am almost finished with the book and I am pleased with the arrangement of the telling of Barry Manilows life and achievements and his music history. I knew nothing about him before and now I feel I understand this kind. fragile. aggressive businessman who could write and arrange the most beautiful music. His presence at the piano and his showmanship that formed a glorious entertaining format is all explained by Ms. Butler. She did a great job in defining the steps it took to get Barry to the top. His beginning is so humble and one of things I discovered about this highly intelligent man was that he exuded a kindness that was also inherent in his beloved grandfather. Now. I wonder where he is today. Music has changed and practically disappeared from this generation but. my generation thrived on his beautiful songs. I had no idea what it took to put together a musical production but it was fascinating. I am glad that Patricia Butler wrote this biography of Manilow--it is a very good read!0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
