Beardsley's Le Morte Darthur: Selected Illustrations (Dover Fine Art; History of Art)

[DOC] Beardsley's Le Morte Darthur: Selected Illustrations (Dover Fine Art; History of Art) by Aubrey Beardsley in Arts-Photography

Description

A legendary life shown in rare; mostly never before published photographs. Arguably the most famous woman of the twentieth century; certainly one of its most photographed; Jacqueline Bouvier Kennedy Onassis lived an astonishing life; her popularity and the fascination she held for people the world over during her nearly sixty years in the spotlight can hardly be overestimated. And while that has led to a number of books about her; none has told her life story in the way this one does--entirely in photographs; from birth to death; with lively; anecdotal extended captions. Of the 251 photographs in Jackie: Her Life in Pictures; 165 have never been published; 58 have rarely been published (in newspapers or magazines but never in book form); and 28 are inescapable images that have been seared into the memories of everyone. Together with the text by James Spada that runs alongside them; these pictures tell the story of an American life that became legendary even while it was being lived; a story that will speak afresh to the hearts of all Americans.

I ordered this book at a terrific price because I am a homeowner and just wanted to know what I was doing in general. Did not want to put money into electrical upgrades without knowing the basic rules of design. I would not say this is super easy to read. This is the type of book though that is like a medical encyclopedia. If you are working on your kitchen; you pull your book out; read the section; then put away until next section of the house. I was pleasantly surprised what was said about uplights; downlights; etc. Lighting in kitchen is sooooo important because people work on counter space and table for bills. Loved this book. Author did a very nice job. Felt like I was a lighting engineer and peeking inside an electrical engineers mind. WORTHWHILE purchase and we are very picky.28 of 28 people found the following review helpful. A lighting technique that works!By James PrestonIve read a few other lighting books over the years but found that Whiteheads approach is superior for creating moods in rooms. My wife and I prototype interiors in our home and the results from "A Practical Guide" have been outstanding. We move and change the lighting with temporary luminaires and various wattages to explore the various possibilities before using them in real designs for clients.Beware - after buying into his concepts you will be frustrated by the lighting almost everywhere you go.- jim18 of 19 people found the following review helpful. Residential Lighting - A Practical GuideBy C. WesterbeckThis is an excellent practical and technical book for learning about and designing lighting for a home. Its aimed at the professional; which I appreciate as an intern architect. Part of my job is to design sophisticated lighting schemes for custom homes; which takes a lot of experience and knowledge. This book has really helped me to pinpoint the different kinds of lighting needed for each space and how to place it and specify it in a professional way for the greatest effect. Most architects take years to learn this; but Im getting a crash course by having this resource. Its not a fluffy coffee table book; its a technical manual that teaches HOW to properly understand and design lighting for a residence. I highly recommend it.
