Uuml;berliefert dagegen ist eine Vorzeichnung; die einige prauml;gende Gestaltungsmerkmale bereits vorweg nimmt. Im Unterschied zu Boccionis populauml;rer Plastik bdquo;Einzigartige Form der Kontinuitauml;t im Raumldquo; von 1913 ist die hier beschriebene und etwa ein Jahr fruuml;her geschaffene Plastik trotz der Uuml;berschaubarkeit des skulpturalen Werks Boccionis bisher wenig publiziert. Meist handelt es sich dabei um Erwauml;hnungen im Hinblick auf das Gesamtwerk oder auf populauml;rere Werke. Sowohl in eben jenen skulpturalen als auch in den malerischen Werken Umberto Boccionis; der sich als Bildhauer; Maler und Graphiker betauml;tigte; spielen Motive der neuen Technik eine entscheidende Rolle. Wie auch aus seinem 1914 verouml;ffentlichten Manifest mit dem Titel bdquo;Pittura; Scultura; Futuristeldquo; hervorgeht; beschauml;ftigen den Kuuml;nstler; der zu den Hauptvertretern des Futurismus zauml;hlt; die Themen Geschwindigkeit und Bewegung in besonderem Maszlig;e. Als Verehrer der neuen Hochtechnologie versucht Boccioni die Paradoxa dieser neuen Erscheinungen in seinen Werken sichtbar zu machen. Von besonderem Interesse fuuml;r Boccioni ist dabei die Auseinandersetzung mit der schnellen Bewegung. Mehrmals beschreibt er in seinem Manifest die Erscheinung einer Durchdringung von Ebenen; bzw. der Umwelt durch den Menschen und umgekehrt. Geprauml;gt von den neuartigen Eindruuml;cken der Moderne; folgt Boccioni in seinem malerischen wie auch skulpturalen Werk den Idealen des Futurismus und verarbeitet darin vom Eisenbahn- und Straszlig;enverkehr sowie von der Fliegerei angeregte Motive. Doch sind es weniger die Produkte der Moderne selbst; mit denen er arbeitet; vielmehr sind es die mit der neuen Technik einhergehenden und auf den Menschen zustuuml;rzenden Eindruuml;cke. Inwiefern die 1915 in San Francisco erstmals ausgestellte Plastik bdquo;Entwicklung einer Flasche im Raumldquo; von eben diesen Erscheinungen der Moderne beeinflusst ist oder doch eher klassischen Motivtraditionen folgt; soll im Anschluss an die nun folgende Beschreibung untersucht werden.

Im sure there is some huge biography on Lemmy out there. but what I like about this volume is that it focuses only on the years of the best line-up Motorhead ever had. with Filthy Phil and Fast Eddie. Popoff turns this into a story of a group of outcasts climbing their way to success. despite the fact that the world pretty much hated them.Popoff is a fantastic writer. so the prose is clear and funny and the story is compelling. Since much of the book comes from interviews of the band themselves. the PERSONALITIES involved really shine through. and thats what interests me the most. Popoff starts the book by describing how this line-up came together. then spends the rest of the book focusing on each release they put out. so you also get the kind of critical review of each album that Popoff is famous for. Its fun to listen to each album while reading the chapter about it.Its a quick. fun read with lots of great photos. Motorhead. the iconic metal band a person can arguably say that most everyone in the civilized world has at least heard a riff from. rocked the world for many years. The band had members come and go. but this book focuses on the original bands rise. the formidable years of 1976-1982. when the band got larger than life. The lead singer and faceman of the band always claimed the band was a punk band. not a heavy metal band. the annals of history may disagree. Bloody ell. Wot a gem!By Daniel FedorenkoFirst off. if you are reading this and are not yet familiar with Martin Popoff. you should be. Martin writes on hard rock and heavy metal from a fans perspective (albeit a very knowledgeable fans perspective) and his love for the music and bands he writes about really shines throughout his work. This book deals with the "classic line-up" of Motorhead (the Kilmister. Taylor. Clarke era) and their groundbreaking albums that helped shape and influence what would later become speed metal. From the early days of a band whose career was almost cut short before it even began to the demise of both Phil and Lemmy 40 years later this book is filled with personal recollections from all three members interviewed over several years by the author. It also contains Popoffs usual high standard of band ephemera reproduction as well as many wonderful photos that were new to me (including some credited to the author himself). Bottom Line: This book is a must-read for fans of Motorhead and highly recommended to all fans of true rock n roll. And after you pick up Beer Drinkers And Hell Raisers check out the rest of Martin Popoffs treasure trove of material. You will not be disappointed.P.S.
