It is short and concise which is very appropriate for a 1st Grade audience. We are in the digital age and for this reason tablets are nearly accessible in many classrooms in the United States. I would have this book available to my 1st graders to read in the classroom. The only reason I didnt give it 5 Stars is because is is slightly lacking in the "WOW" factor. It dedicates a page to each continent and explains a popular place in relation to the County that is outlined on the previous page. For example; The Eiffel Towel is well known for being in Europe. The one fact that I did learn that I was not aware of is the number of volcanic mountain ranges in Antartica. I read this with my I Cloud Reader on a Macbook Pro. I selected the Digital download option. It is 18 pages of colorful pictures telling facts about each continent and highlighting a special place found there. The pictures are stunning and the content is simple and easy to understand. I love that each continent is displayed in map form making it easy for students to identify. I wish the author would have shown a global pictures so students see where the continents are in relation to one another. Just like the other books in this series; it is missing nonfiction features of text that would really aid in comprehension; for example I would have expected the word currency to have been written in bold and added to a glossary with a simple; kid friendly definition. For my ESL students is a great way to teach them some of the famous places that they may see featured in American movies and read about in literature. As a teacher of elementary students; I would love to incorporate this ebook into a small group activity where I present a main idea or topic to the whole class and then they break up in small groups and discover more material on their own. My mind was continuously racing as I read through this book thinking of different projects I could make on this topic. It is the perfect age group to let them use a kindle to explore and what a better way to do so than with this ebook! I will totally let other teachers know of this opportunity and will keep this seller in mind with other ebooks available.
