This book describes a significant amount of Lake Ronkonkoma history through words and outstanding photos. This author seems to know a substantial amount about Lake Ronkonkoma and its history. I highly recommend this book and others by Mr. Spencer for his knowledge on this topic. This book reminds me of my childhood at Lake Ronkonkoma when my father would pack us in his Stationwagon like sardines for a long day at the beach.3 of 6 people found the following review helpful. This is a bogus version of the original "Lake Ronkonkoma" bookBy MikeI can not believe that Arcadia Publishing released a book that is almost identical to the original publishing back in 2011. I just ordered both of these books and I now realize this is the one im returning back to . The original authors are Keith Oswald and Dale Spencer. This book is Dale Spencer and Janet Rischbieter. I come to realize that Dale Spencer isnt a very good author and writer. I have seen his lectures and let me tell you he should just stay as a story teller for the Lake Ronkonkoma Historical Society. He enjoys flaunting himself up on stage in front of people that dont know the history of the lake. Hes a pompous individual who should take some writing courses. This book is full of mundane shots with monotonous writing. Even the index was almost copied to what the original exhibits. Dozens of photos were already used in the original book. Why would you even consider duplicating the same photographs? I dont understand the logic behind that. Maybe a "Then Now" book released through Arcadia Publishing would of been a much better idea. This would of been an excellent way of showcasing the town of today from the town 100 years ago. Then you could of used the same photos from the first book and then compared it with a photo of the area of today. Also lets get some pictures of the late 1960s into the 1980s. So many of these book never show that period of time. Guess what?! Its 30-50 years ago. Hopefully people understand that this version of "Lake Ronkonkoma" is a waste of money and time.
