A Right Play for Todays Young PeopleBy Kindle CustomerONeills first Pulitizer play has a lot more to say to todays young people than its absence from most reading lists and anthologies would indicate. It is about the kinds of decisions our high school juniors are beginning to make and will be making in the next few years--decisions that well may determine how the rest of the journey goes. The characters and plot are accessible. The language controlled. effective. and understandable--the wildest word in the whole play is "slut." for which the speaker apologizes almost immediately.I like to have my students reading plays that deal with issues they can expect to experience themselves. This is one of those. more so than. say. The Glass Menagerie.The only problem is that there is no good filmed version of stage or screenplay and not even a readily available soundtrack. Poor printing of a great play - Beyond The HorizonBy IvanhoeThe printing of the play must have been done by an elementary school shop class. There were: run-on sentances and paragraphs. mis-spells. no separation between character speak and stage directions - to mention a few. A total waste to money.
