Folk art proves that producing utilitarian objects can provide an opportunity for self-expression. From decoys to sea chests; folk art is not only rooted in the useful but in the realities of living. Some folk art makes daily chores more fun; while others; such as mourning art; help people face lifes saddest occasions. This volume is an introduction for the novice and a treasure for the collector.

I wasnt sure if it were a play; a story; fable; or what.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Kelefaa SaaneBy epicswisdomandliesI strongly disagree with the previous (two star) review; though this is clearly personal preference. African epics; when published in English; are usually translations of transcriptions from oral recitations. These recitiations are often done before a live audience that knows the stories very well. The end result; yes; is often repetitive or confusing to the uninitiated. But I found this particular epic to be a good read; less confusing than most; and I found the variety of ways the story was presented to be fascinating. Very enjoyable.
