Sipe(The author of this review is a musician; with 48 years experience playing flute in multiple venues. Currentlyteaching flute privately and answering flute questions on AllExperts.com; she is also an active soloist and band member. The following review is written from that perspective.)Breeze Easy Book 1 is a simple; easy to understand; step-by-step method for the flute beginner who has NEVER had ANY musical instruction. It introduces only one or two small; simple concepts at a time; till the student finds himself/herself well-equipped; both in reading music; and specific technique on the flute. The book is short; with very few pages; and very large writing; well-spaced across the pages for easy reading. While many of the more "modern" flute method books now offer DVDs and CDs; they seem to focus on quickly preparing their students with general skills for the school band. While this is all well and good; some beginning students seem to find the complexity of using a DVD player; CD player; and trying to "keep up" a bit much. Dare I say; "overwhelming?" Even those students who can keep up with the fast pace find themselves "basically-trained for playing in school bands." And that is the intent of these methods. But the BREEZE EASY Method trains a "total musician." They end up "well-rounded;" and "well-grounded;" and can later use that training to expand into a variety of other musical endeavors. For simple; unassuming; easy learning... THIS BOOK IS GREAT FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS! Though it is an older copyright; it still trains a true musician.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
