I was curious and I am happy I read the book; although it is not as grand as Patrick Bruels character makes you believe. Still a good classic to put under your belt. In a nutshell; I would say this book illustrates some peoples inability to ever be satisfied; to find happiness and content. At times cruel and pitiful; it is nonetheless a powerful book.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. The Original French Version of AdolpheBy Judith T. LackritzSo far; I am still at the beginning of this French version; as I am reading it slowly. But having read it in English and Spanish; I am quite grateful to have the opportunity to read this forgotten classic in the original. As an early work to concentrate on the protagonists interior thoughts and views; it still has resonance in todays world and feels like a modern piece.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Trop romantique...By Claudia RodriguesTrop romantique pour ma part.
