In dry academic jargon. the author belabors his points and manages to make the most thrilling tv show ever into a boring read. Cant imagine who this was written for... so-called scholars to inflict upon hapless liberal art majors ? Not very accessible to the average fan. I found the writing stilted and overly flowery. While I appreciated the overall thesis (the show is about reclaiming dignity. something anyone who watched it already could figure out) the author seems to be talking *around* the topic.Maybe just in explaining it all. I missed the sense of wonder and magic and awe which the series evoked. Reading his convoluted words. I could hardly recognize the actual show itself which I loved.
