Superb Resource for a middle/senior-high productionBy DannyDoucetteIve been reading reviews and buying from for almost a decade; and this is the first time Ive been motivated to write a review. Nick Newlins 30-Minute cutting of "As You Like It" was a superb product; and I think it is a worthy purchase for any fellow educators.The 30-Minute Shakespeare series is born from Newlins work in producing student productions; and his insight into how to make such stage productions effective shines through the script and associated documentation. The stage notes are invaluable; and as a young educator; I appreciated the pages with rehearsal and training suggestions.Ultimately; this is not a play-in-a-box: youll need to know a bit about Shakespearean theater to make it work. But not much. What this cutting provides is the jumping-off point for an energetic; full-story production.I used this cutting with a group of ESL students in grades 9; 10; and 11 to stage a production with about two weeks of rehearsal. We needed a bit more time than that to learn the lines and spice up the action; blocking; props; costumes; and humor.I got a chance to look at a few of the other 30-Minute Shakespeare titles; and it seemed like the entire series was pretty good; although AYLI was my favorite. If you want to put on Shakespeare production without going to the full length of the play; this is the best option.
