Ive yet to do any projects from the book. but I can see a couple in my future. So why a mere 3 stars for a book I really liked? There are a couple of things that were dramatically lacking in this book.First the resource list for the supplies used was sorely lacking. I realize that including a resource list is problematic. in that the item may not be available from the source listed forever. but there are a number of items used in the projects contained here that I really would have liked a resource for.Second. its important to me that the author walk the reader through a process that will give VERY similar results to those of the artist/author. This artists pieces are very layered and although there is a description of many of the methods used to develope this layered look early in the book. the projects area of the book does little to include these multilayered effects to the degree that the artists own work does. These two shortcomings loses the book a full star in my mind. With all that said. if you love to play with paint and would like to have a variety of projects to incorporate canvas and paint into. this work my be well worth buying.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Alisa Burke CreatesBy Ginny MapesAlisa Burke. freelance painter and mixed media artist shares her love of exploring and pushing the boundaries of materials. She draws her inspiration from nature as well as the every day features around her--fashion. street designs. Not one to worry over mistakes--you can always paint over something you are not happy with. She uses simple products that dont cost a fortune as she encourages readers to experiment. have fun. and play first before investing in some of the more expensive products. She encourages the reader to break the rules. make a mess. follow your dreams. Alisa has many on-line classes if the reader wants to see her in action. This book and her newer one Sew Wild actually document many of the techniques. tools. processes and projects shown in her classes. So it is a great reference for her fans as well as other creative readers who will treasure the information. A must have for the art library.
