A rational and honest bookBy Georgia HollingerA rational and honest book about the causes; and a look at all the good which has occurred to bring Elvis to bigger and better attention as demand has grown and newer applications for the products uses. Far less hysteria then is found in many Elvis books; instead; a rational look at all the good which has come about to the music and for the fans; new and old.1 of 2 people found the following review helpful. ... the similarities are interesting yet it also shows how easily people fall for "idol" worship and becoming "followers" of ...By Dennis HuskinsThis book attempts to draw a comparison with the "worship" status from fans between Elvis and Jesus and at times the similarities are interesting yet it also shows how easily people fall for "idol" worship and becoming "followers" of man over Jesus and eternal life. While i agree the two most well known names and people in history are Jesus and Elvis; this book reveals that Jesus is the Son of God and Elvis is the son of Vernon and Gladys. It proves the scripture about how people will love the creation more than the creator (God). I realize that Elvis was given more God-like charisma; angelic personality; divine looks; heavenly voice and other worldly presence than all other entertainers combined and this is an insight as to why so many fans wrestle with such adoration for all this power in one human being and it is an insight as to why even Elvis himself wrestled with it all his life too. The book reflects a fact that when God decided to sing through a man as he did through Elvis and he pours out the whole barrel of gifts from heaven upon him then that man (nor mankind) is not able to handle it.But the main message of this book is how Elviss death is now a baptism into Sainthood in his fanatical followers and how they place him side by side with Jesus hanging on their walls. Basically a study in the ultimate hero worship to dangerous levels.
