It has really struck me what a "white bread" existence Ive lived as I read these stories - so rich in culture. They are an exercise of the tongue; of the mind; and of the spirit. They entertain way beyond just a simple bed time story. You can picture the cities; the towns; the people. Just when you think the story a bit to complex for a child; they child chimes in with their own interpretation making these stories even more complex; but in an enriching and entrancing way. They are more clever than Aesop; more intoxicating than Anderson. And the way they are intertwined with practical applications in life makes the storytelling real. They are simply enchanting.
