Centreville and Chantilly (Images of America)

[audiobook] Centreville and Chantilly (Images of America) by Mary Stachyra Lopez in Arts-Photography

Description

For more than three decades; renowned graphic designer and self-described Italophile Louise Fili has traveled the cities and countryside of Italy cataloging the work of sign craftsmen in whose hands type takes on new life with a tantalizing menu of styles. Classical; eclectic; or Futurist; in gold leaf; marble; brass; wood; wrought iron; enamel; ceramic; or neon; painted; carved; inlaid; etched; tiled; or stenciledmdash; the creative possibilities are endless. Grafica della Strada is Filis photographic diary of hundreds of Italys most inventive restaurant; shop; hotel; street; and advertising signs. A major influence on Filis own work; many of these marvels of vernacular design live on solely in this book; a typographic love letter to Italy that will be an inspiration to designers and Italophiles everywhere.

Great arrangements for early piano studentsBy RahGood book for early piano students who may just be learning higher (treble) and lower (bass) staff notes (or not solid in their reading of them). I teach piano and have many students who are not able to do an intermediate or even Elementary level yet...or those who dont progress because they dont like the songs in their lesson books. This encourages them to learn new notes because they know the songs and want to perform them for friends and family. I just wish I could find a similar book that is somewhere between this easy book and the more difficult books.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. 2 out of 16 songs are worth itBy Melodie Laine FoxI teach piano and voice. I do not know pop. I love Pinks Just Like Fire; so I bought the book; hoping the other 15 songs would be worth buying the whole book. Lets be clear. I had no idea what any of the other songs sounded like. I doubt I had ever even heard any of them before. I sightread through the book; singing and playing. Only one other song was worth learning so I can use it to teach. The rest was just uninspired repetitve crap. If the lyrics were good; there was no melody. If the melody was good enough; the song form was juvenile and unplanned. If you want to copy the rap words instead of rap yourself; this may be a good book for you; but Im not going to put the effort into songs that arent for singers. Rather than buying the book; I recommend you buy separate sheet music formats of only two of the songs: Just Like Fire and One Call Away. Shes an advanced player; and can sit down and sight read these for fun. Probably a little tough for a beginner.
