Christmas Songs Songbook: Budget Books

[ebooks] Christmas Songs Songbook: Budget Books by Hal Leonard Corporation at Arts-Photography

Description

What can the performance of a single play on one specific night tell us about the world this event inhabited so briefly? Alexander Nemerov takes a performance of Macbeth in Washington; DC on October 17; 1863mdash;with Abraham Lincoln in attendancemdash;to explore this question and illuminate American art; politics; technology; and life as it was being lived. Nemerovrsquo;s inspiration is Wallace Stevens and his poem "Anecdote of the Jar;" in which a single object organizes the wilderness around it in the consciousness of the poet. For Nemerov; that eveningrsquo;s performance of Macbeth reached across the tragedy of civil war to acknowledge the horrors and emptiness of a world it tried and ultimately failed to change.

Great Arrangements (for the most part)By JenniFThis book pretty much includes every traditional carol you can think of. and about half of the most famous pop ones you could probably think of as well. Im very picky about sheet music collections like this; many collections and budget books tend not to advertise that theyre fake books (one note in each hand to pluck out the melody). As Ive been playing piano for almost 20 years now. I prefer something *slightly* more challenging than that. Id put this collection at medium difficulty. This is also perfect if you want really straightforward arrangements of Christmas carols (which is what I wanted). These are NOT solo piano arrangements with dramatic flourishes that complicate or hide the melody. but these ARE great arrangements if you want people to sing along! (Chords and lyrics are also included in every song.)One complaint only. and it was to be expected: The arrangements of the pop songs simply arent as good. I always get sheet music for pop songs hoping that it would be the piano part you hear in the song. but its inevitably the melody line in the right hand with repetitive eighth notes in the left. Oh well.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. PommieBy PommieThis is a nice Christmas song book. The book is filled with a ton of your "childhood" songs. but I noticed that they are written in different keys than that of the ones I was brought up with. Still a fantastic collection of 100 songs like "All I Want For Christmas". Silent Night. Silver Bells. Ill be HOme For Christmas. and many others. If you can get a good price on . like I did. definitely worth picking it up. The one I got had all the guitar chords. piano and vocals in it.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Five StarsBy S BryantGreat value for the money.
