Bob Mould; Grant Hart; and Greg Norton formed Huuml;sker Duuml; in 1979 as a wildly cathartic outfit fueled by a cocktail of anger; volume; and velocity. Heres the first book to dissect the trio that countless critics and musicians have cited as one of the most influential bands of the 1980s. Author Andrew Earles examines how Huuml;sker Duuml; became the first hardcore band to marry pop melodies with psychedelic influences and ear-shattering volume. Readers witness the band create the untouchable noise-pop of LPs like New Day Rising; Flip Your Wig; and Candy Apple Grey; not to mention the sprawling double-length Zen Arcade. Few bands from the original American indie movement did more to inform the alternative rock styles that breached the mainstream in the 1990s. Huuml;sker Duuml; truly were visionaries.

I thought two or three of them were particularly good. although I was slightly disappointed because the book overall is not as good as "Carols for Two." Many of the duets are less traditional and were less familiar to me. Also. it seemed like some of the song-combinations were a little forced. There are also a lot of Christmas songs from other countries. so if youre really into the multi-cultural-type Christmas songs. you might really like it. I guess I was looking for something with more popular Christmas songs. In short. if youre going to get just one book. get "Carols for Two" -- its great. If you already have "Carols for Two" and love it. this one will add a few other nice duets to your collection.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Two StarsBy Jeanne GrealishRather poor choices and most of the duets require an instrument along with piano for a suitable performance.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
