The book provides an overview of the architecture of the Soviet Union and Eastern Bloc countries; citing specific buildings; streets; parks; et cetera. My major complaint with this is the amount of photographs present - there are often pictures to associate with the building being talked about; but more often I found myself browsing with a computer next to me so I could look up pictures of what was being described.Furthermore; this book also includes (as I believe any great nonfiction book should) information and history about the areas being talked about. A description of a housing bloc is not just a description of the walls and the windows; but also a description of the neighborhood; the city; the economy of that city; and that citys place within the history of the Soviet Union.
