Not only is it a photo journalistic delight with inspiring stories--the profits benefit grandmothers in Africa raising orphaned children. GrandmotherPower tell the stories of women around the world who are improving their communities. Simple uneducated grandmothers have brought solar power to their homes replacing kerosine lamps in India; they are teaching younger women how to preserve ancient weaving traditions in Peru to site just 2 examples. What a wonderful vision; to see what is happening among grandmothers globally; and translate it into this beautiful book. Those of us who are grandmothers will be thrilled to see these women around the world doing difficult but important tasks. I was surprised at the range of things that grandmothers are doing. For example; who would have thought that they would be monitoring the checkpoints in Israel to be sure that Palestinians crossing through would be treated fairly? The message of the book is important; that these women are making a huge difference in the world. It is icing on the cake that it is beautifully designed and printed.
