The genuine article.By Donald BurrowDavid Curtis is a master of plein air painting.Capturing the Moment in Oils is gerously illustrated with over 120 of his painings in colour. The book begins with a brief but adequate description of painting techniques and then moves to an account of the site and challenge of many of his paintings and expains his approach and response. The result feels a very privilaged and generaous insite from the master to a favoured student. The book is co-written with Robin Capon. Whatever were the reasons for this practical arrangement it remains is fresh and direct. The book is recommended to intermediate students. Its format does encourage one to keep returning to David Curtis for inspiration; wise advice and beautiful paintings that help one acheive at a higher level.1 of 1 people found the following review helpful. Excellent volume on plein air paintingBy Book AddictI loved this book. It exceeded my expectations in every way. The illustrations are outstanding and David Curtis commentary on his techniques was spot on. I have two other books of his but this is my favorite. Worth the money.
