Review
0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Strangely OrganizedBy Richard BolanOnly 3 stars -- the material seemed strangely organized and not always clear. For some reason. many of the chapters are presented as interviews -- mostly by the second author with the first author. The book is primarily apprised of antidotes about various community planning episodes. Some were quite clear and useful. others not so much. None were closely evaluated as to the transferability of the authors experience to other settings. There is a final chapter comprised of an interview with another member of the authors academic department that talks about using film in community planning. This is very general with no specifics about why use film and what exactly was it used for. I would have thought more might have offered about the use of social media to enhance participation. The overall message of fostering inclusiveness across gender. class and race boundaries we all in community planning agree with and this was the primary thrust of the book. I learned a bit but really not too much. The Kindle edition had a surprising ending. One is given a page with a Chapter heading but what follows are the end notes from earlier chapters -- very confusing. There are various books and writings on this subject -- this does not add too much.
