Visual Arts Practice and Affect brings together a group of artist scholars to explore how visual arts can offer unique insights into the understanding of place; memory and affect. Each contributor highlights the crucial role the creative arts play in envisaging new perspectives on the making of meaning; ones that are grounded in the practicalities; materialities and embodied knowing of artistic practice. Art offers other ways of seeing; thinking; understanding the world. It can be very messy; very challenging; but also moving; exquisite; astounding. The book opens a space for experiential appreciation by offering a writing that allows both the writer and the reader to consider those sorts of embodied sensibilities

Chapter 2 is about Techniques which one needs to really develop by practicing and making practice samples on less expensive metals to fine tune the technique process prior to making anything. Without good techniques your metalwork will look like a hot mess instead of adorable like the illustrations in this book. The Necklace projects start on page 63. My favorite is "Adventure Awaits" on page 76. Chapter 4 is about Bracelets and staring on page 95. My favorite is the "Butterfly Bangle" on page 122. Chapter 5 is Rfngs Earrings starting on page 135. My favorite being the "Aim High. Aim True" earrings on page 145. The project photographs are very colorful and clear. Instructions are well understood. Its a great and adorable book.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
