Good ohotos but lacks informationBy John ClineI have always loved vintage photos of NYC and I am also a fan of Arcadia; but I was somewhat disappointed in this book. There are a lot of photos that lack information that I think is important to appreciate the photos. An example of this is the chapter titled "Lonely Streets" where most all of the photos are not identified. The chapter on the police department contain mainly interior shots and even has a full page of mug shots. These are interesting in their own right but do not have revelence in a book of street scenes. Despite these complaints; the book will become part of my NYC library.Manhattan Street Scenes (NY) (Images of America)0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. ShepkoThis book has some great old photos that give a real sense of what Manhattan was like back when. The fact is; its a lot like visiting another planet because the changes in the city are so marked and so ubiquitous. The only shortcoming (if it is one) is that the book isnt long enough.
