Una burla riuscita egrave; il titolo di una breve opera letteraria pubblicata nel 1926 da Italo Svevo. Viene narrata la storia di Mario Samigli (pseudonimo con il quale lo stesso Svevo firmograve; numerosi articoli apparsi sullIndipendente); un letterato deluso per i continui insuccessi; che riesce a riscattarsi grazie ad un improvviso successo negli affari; che compensa le delusioni letterarie. Mario Samigli; impiegato con spiccate velleitagrave; artistiche e grande lettore e studioso di letteratura egrave; autore di molte favole (per lo piugrave; imitazioni dai piugrave; grandi autori) e di un romanzo mai pubblicato. In un certo momento della sua vita; perograve;; la situazione cambia grazie allincontro con un editore tedesco interessato a pubblicare il romanzo. Lincontro egrave; fonte di grande felicitagrave; per il protagonista al quale sembra stia per arrivare (anche se ormai piuttosto anziano) il momento della definitiva e inequivocabile consacrazione a scrittore: un riconoscimento del quale egli considerava degna la sua arte ma mai concretizzato. Ma presto la storia si capovolge in dramma; alla scoperta che il suo improvviso successo non egrave; stato altro che lo scherzo (una "burla" appunto) di un collega del protagonista; che lo vuole unicamente umiliare. In questopera egrave; possibile riscontrare alcune specifiche tematiche; riconducibili poi alle medesime su cui si fonda lintera opera Sveviana: esse sono principalmente la psicoanalisi dellinsoddisfazione; che prende corpo con i sogni e nei sogni del protagonista; tanto turbati e ansiosi quanto calma egrave; la sua condotta da sveglio; lamore dimostrato al protagonista dal fratello; tenuto ostaggio del dolore dalla malattia; il dramma della beffa; che; lontana dallessere umoristica; egrave; al contrario bassamente malevola.

Realistically; I dont think she has such a "great voice"; but it reaches me still. I wouldnt have it any other way; for the types of music she expresses. Needless to say; I bought both books on her life. This one and the autobiography which she put together. "Princess Noire" really explained who and why she was the way she was. I had known of Ninas temperamental outbursts at times when performing; this book really explained why. I was very surprised. I really enjoyed this book; and highly recommend it for all her fans. Part of it; of course; was the grief that any black performer of her generation encountered. She wanted to be a classical pianist but was relegated to playing clubs in Philadelphia when she was unable to get into the musical conservatory of her choice. Cohadas; who has also written terrificbooks on the history of Chess Records and the biography of Dinah Washington; offers another excellent story of a troubled but wonderful singer; writer and pianist.2 of 2 people found the following review helpful.
