Dare to Sketch: A Guide to Drawing on the Go

[DOC] Dare to Sketch: A Guide to Drawing on the Go by Felix Scheinberger in Arts-Photography

Description

Script Analysis for Theatre: Tools for Interpretation; Collaboration and Production provides theatre students and emerging theatre artists with the tools; skills and a shared language to analyze play scripts; communicate about them; and collaborate with others on stage productions. Based largely on concepts derived from Stanislavskis system of acting and method acting; the book focuses on action - what characters do to each other in specific circumstances; times; and places - as the engine of every play. From this foundation; readers will learn to distinguish the big picture of a script; dissect and score smaller units and moment-to-moment action; and create individualized blueprints from which to collaborate on shaping the action in production from their perspectives as actors; directors; and designers. Script Analysis for Theatre offers a practical approach to script analysis for theatre production and is grounded in case studies of a range of the most studied plays; including Sophocles Oedipus the King; Shakespeares Twelfth Night; Henrik Ibsens Hedda Gabler; Georg Buuml;chners Woyzeck; Oscar Wildes The Importance of Being Earnest; Tennessee Williamss A Streetcar Named Desire; and Paula Vogels How I Learned to Drive; among others. Readers will develop the real-life skills professional theatre artists use to design; rehearse; and produce plays.

SmithOne of the best sketching books I have read. because its also about the spirit of sketching. not just about tips and techniques. reminding the artist that their sketches are for them. not for the judgement of others. Highly recommended.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful. Not as good as his previous bookBy Ronald L. CutreraNot nearly as good as his other book Urban Watercolor Sketching. which I highly recommend. Dare to Sketch should have been written first. as it is much more basic.8 of 8 people found the following review helpful. This book teaches. inspires and gives you that little push you need to dare to sketch outdoorsBy Miss HoneybugThis book reminds us of the many uses sketching can have. whether it is meant for doodling. bringing concepts to life. journaling or simply keeping record of our creative endeavors. It explains ldquo;howrdquo; and ldquo;whyrdquo; to use a sketchbook: things to consider before you start and how to use the tools of the trade; pens. pencils. watercolor. collage. etc. Followed by ldquo;whatrdquo; and ldquo;howrdquo; to sketch: unleashing your imagination. basic elements of design. landscapes. people. animals. architecture. important things to consider when sketching and while traveling to other countries and a few words about digital media.Irsquo;m pleased that his own voice shows in every page. sort of like reading a memoir and attending a sketching workshop. I think that what makes this book unique is the anecdotes that Scheinberger shared from his journeys around the world accompany by the actual sketches he is talking about. It stands out from some other sketching books that (while still wonderful and helpful) remain impersonal and mostly technical. I got my eARC from NetGalley- Keep in mind that it wont tell you how to master drawing nor painting. If for example. you havenrsquo;t tried watercolors before. this book wont be a guide for mastering this or any other media (btw. if this is you. you should check out his other book "Urban Watercolor Sketching") However. it does give the information you will need for using different kind of media/tools for the purpose of sketching. Regardless of your drawing level at the moment. the tips will prove of unmeasurable value once you start your sketching journey.- If I had to give this as a present to an artistic friend or relative. I would add a new sketchbook and some pens (and if possible. order them from The Sketchbook Project by the Brooklyn Art Library). That would be an amazing gift. in my opinion.-This is the english version of "Mut zum Skizzenbuch" (so you can check those reviews as well).
