Children enjoy learning about cultures that differ from what they are accustomed to. A Nations of Europe picture book opens the door to new experiences; and introduces children to new ideas and concepts through learning about the differences and commonalities between nations. Exposing children to other customs; languages; types of government; and landscapes broadens their horizons and increases their open-mindedness. A picture book can be used as a gateway vehicle to enhancing a childs international education and provide a foundation for acceptance and tolerance of other cultures. A Nations of Europe book can help children understand a portion of the world apart from our own nation.

Phenomenal bookBy charla e. boltonPhenomenal book which provides a Ph.D level discussion of the images and history of the period; but also gives you information where each image can be found; where the image was published; and who the photographer was. The book paper quality and image reproduction is excellent. It is encyclopedic in its coverage; I for one found an image of my father; whose ex pat parents settled in Mexico City in 1900; as he had taken shelter during the bombing of Mexico City. I dont know what other books in the field offer but you cant go wrong with this one.3 of 4 people found the following review helpful. Qualified authors standard workBy Phil_lipsThis is standard excellence and thoroughness by John Mraz who knows his subject; but continues to mis-identify photographs of Sumner W. Matteson as the work of Hugo Brehme.
