Pierre Corneille; in his original dedication for The Theatre of Illusion; described the play as a "strange monster." He first called these five acts a comedy; later; a "caprice" and an "extravagant trifle." Written in 1635 and staged in 1636; the play vanished from the stage for the next three hundred yearsmdash;to be revived in 1937 by Louis Jouvet and the Comeacute;die Franccedil;aise. Since then it has been widely considered; in Virginia Scottrsquo;s words; "Corneillersquo;s baroque masterpiece."Today this brilliant piece of wit and drama is available in a new translation from one of Americarsquo;s finest poets and translators of French; Richard Wilbur. Widely praised for his translations of plays by Moliegrave;re and Racine; Wilbur now turns his poetic grace to this work; which remains as much a celebration of the comedy of humanity and the magic of life as it was when Corneille wrote it.

Bones and Stately HomesBy June StewartI give five stars to all of Valerie Malmonts "Tori Miracle" series. I have lived in south central Pennsylvania for the last two years. where I retired. I lived here twenty years ago. Valerie Malmont captures the flavor of all of the people that live in these tiny towns surrounding the area of the basis for her series. She is one of the most quick witted authors I have read in a long while and I hope she continues the series with all the mystery involved in Toris adventurous life. And. please. keep the unusual names coming. They struck my "funny bone" right away. because my maiden name was a doozy that meant horses foot.0 of 0 people found the following review helpful.
